Renaissance Man : Lane Knaack
We both spent time riding and traveling with Lane back in the 90’s. Back when he was a wee “grom” living in Southern Vermont and tearing up the Green Mountain Series and getting photos published in Eastern Edge, Transworld, and Snowboarder. He and brother Frank were always beaming with smiles and out to have the best time on and off the snow. Lane went on to ride with the Burton, Hayes Brothers, Smokin’ Jay, and original Grenade Teams as he went from grom status to a 6’ 2” Pro Shred on the West Coast. He was part of the OG Grenade team with Danny, Dingo, when the whole squad set up shop in Mammoth to blow the lid off corporate snowboarding that was closing in all around them. Lane has always kept it real and never chased unrealistic bullshit. He helped snowboarding improve, stay grounded in crews that build each other up, and have so much fun it was illegal in 50 States. He founded HFM Welding and consults and creates beautiful and quality installations around the country. We called up Lane as soon as we had the green light at Stratton for our first HOMESICK event in 2023. We wanted his input on creating the Zebulon Rail Jam. Course layout, features, riding zones, consulting with Stratton Parks - he has helped make HOMESICK what it is. He designed and manufactured custom features with Zeb, delivered them on time, and had a blast riding it all. The man still rips! He and his wife Ali recently purchased and renovated the Colonial Inn of Weston, Vermont and it is as comfortable and genuine as they come. Give them a follow and when you book your next adventure in Vermont (HOMESICK!) make sure to stay at the COHO Inn!
